Definition of Music User

A Music User is any entity that utilizes music for commercial purposes.

For every music user that respects the copyright law, a songwriter gets to earn an income decent enough for him to write more great songs.

Music Users in the Philippines serviced by M2K fall into five categories:

  1. Content Providers or CPs – use music as content for poly and mono ringtones
  2. Music Publishers – in cases where songs are partly-owned by a major music publisher, M2K manages only the songwriter’s share of the publishing rights.
  3. Film Producers – use music as movie theme songs or background music. M2K offers a variety of hit songs from various genres to choose from, negotiates with their preferred M2K songwriter of choice for a commissioned song.
  4. Telephone Companies – negotiates Caller Ring Back Tune (CRBT) deals
  5. Major record labels and Independent music labels – are always looking for great material for their popular and upcoming artists. M2K pitches them various song demos, carefully selected and tailored for the artist. When the pitch is successful, M2K then authorizes the license of the particular song to the record label.

Before you license any music from us or from any other source, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What is the extent of music usage needed by my project?
  2. How long will my project run for?
  3. On which media will the song be used? (film, DVD, CD, Mp3 or downloadable file, etc.)
  4. On which territories will the project be used? (Philippines only or worldwide)
