Alvina
Sy (b. April 29, 1964 in Quezon City) is a philosopher and academician who also happens to write very good pop songs. She taught Philosophy for seven years in De La Salle University. Discovering her knack for songwriting early in life, when she was a grade 5 student playing guitar during the weekly mass in her elementary school, Alvina went on to win the grand prize in the amateur division of the prestigious Metropop Songwriting Festival in 1983, and then the grand prize for professional division of the same contest in 1985.
